Where is Kuching ?
Kuching, officially the City of Kuching, is the capital of the East Malaysian state of Sarawak. Being the most populous city in Sarawak, Kuching emerged as one of the most vibrant cities in the region, and it is the largest city on the island of Borneo, and the fourth largest city in Malaysia.

PLACE IN KUCHING

Cat Museum

Cat Museum
Meow! This 'Cat City' lives up to its name. It has a cat museum situated on Bukit Siol at Petra Jaya across the river. For feline lovers, this is an ultimate collection of cat memorabilia, from Hello Kitty and Garfield to Matthew Flinder's cat and other famous felines. Visitors will enjoy looking at the exhibits and photos of all the cats, and maybe pick up a few souvenirs from the gift shop.

Sarawak Museum

The Old Sarawak Museum is the oldest museum in Borneo that was sponsored by the second Rajah Charles Brooke and it was opened in 1891 for displaying native arts and crafts. It has been renovated with some additions to its present structure. It houses a comprehensive collection of tribal artefacts and historical information of Borneo.

 Kuching Waterfront

Kuching Waterfront
The Kuching Waterfront was where  the first white Rajah, James Brooke  first landed in Sarawak. The Sarawak  government spent a huge sum of  money in reconstructing the  waterfront and reclaiming parts of  the riverside that used to be a docking  area for the villagers crossing the river by small boats. It is now a beautifully landscaped esplanade along the Sarawak River with some eateries and entertainment areas. There are some historical buildings, an observation tower and other sculptures in the area.

FOODS IN KUCHING

Sarawak Laksa
Laksa Sarawak
The local Sarawak Laksa is a creamy , spicy ,local variation of Malaysia's ubiquitous soup-noodle bowl. Jumbo prawns, fresh lime, and coriander lend a unique flavor to the broth which is thicker than that found in most noodle bowls - heavy but delicious. The noodles are usually made from thin vermicelli.

Kolok mee

Kolo Mee
Kolok Mee refers to a dry version of noodles originating from Sarawak (I stand corrected). It is sometimes known as Sarawak Kolo Mee or simply Kolok Mee. It takes a few platefuls of this noodles before it grows on you. Perhaps it has to be due to the fact that it is rather plain looking compared to other more colourful noodle dishes. However, once you grow to like it, it can be addictive.
Kueh Teow

Kueh Teow
Signs around Kuching advertise this local noodle dish in a myriad of different spellings. Wide kueh teow noodles are stir-fried with pork and vegetables in a special tomato soup originating from Kuching. "Tomato mee" is a version of tomato kueh teow served with thin, deep-fried noodles rather wide noodles.
Roti Canai

Roti Canai
A famous local food, roti canai is cheap, tasty and fills a hungry stomach in the wee hours of the morning. It is cuisine for INDIA.

KUCHING FESTIVAL

As usual, Kuching Festival entrance will featured a cat, because Kuching sounds exactly like cat in BM which is spelled the same with the exception of the letter 'H'. Hence the name the Cat City. The anniversary of the declaration of Kuching as a city is celebrated every August. You will surely be entertained throughout this month long festival with activities from a city parade to nightly exhibitions, stage shows, concerts and competitions.
